Scan with Hexagon RealSLAM
Hexagon RealSLAM supports mobile capture across large spaces. 01Spatial reads panoramas, poses, and point-cloud data from E57 and produces localization assets through the same quality gates. E57 is a common reality-capture exchange format that can store those images, positions, and 3D points together.
Hexagon RealSLAM data requires neither 01Spatial Reference Boards nor Map Configurator; upload it and start the build.
Capture
- Capture continuously with effective spacing within about 2 m.
- Add overlap at entrances, turns, occluded areas, and repetitive corridors, then close the route before finishing.
- Avoid moving large objects or allowing crowds to block the camera for extended periods.
Export and upload
Export one E57 that retains both images2D and data3D: visual images, poses, and 3D scans. Place the E57 in a ZIP.
Create a Hexagon RealSLAM map and choose:
- Local: select the ZIP from this computer and keep the page open until upload completes.
- Cloud, recommended for large files: upload the ZIP to a drive supported by the current Portal interface, then provide a direct file link for server-side download.
Select Build. Portal verifies that the E57 matches the selected device type and reports scan density.
Validate
When Ready, inspect route continuity, long corridors, and the edges of large open spaces. Compare visual Points with LiDAR geometry, then test entrances, turns, and repetitive structures separately.
