Launch AR on Android
The Android client uses Chrome WebXR and on-device ARCore, so no separate app is required. Space Studio generates an AR link for the current map and Content.
Requirements
- An Android phone or tablet that supports ARCore.
- The latest stable Chrome, with permission to use the camera and motion tracking.
- A stable network connection. The first launch loads the map, Content, and AR runtime.
- A Ready map with Launch available in the Space Studio top bar.
Launch from Space Studio
- Open a Ready map from Spatial Maps.
- In the Space Studio top bar, select Launch.
- Select Android. The tab is hidden if Android launch is not enabled in the current deployment.
- Scan the QR code with the Android device, or send the link to the device and open it in Chrome.
- Grant camera access, then start AR from the page.
ARCore first establishes smooth local tracking. 01Spatial then aligns the map coordinate system with the current AR session. During initialization, face a mapped area with fixed visual detail and move the device slowly. Avoid aiming only at a blank wall or the floor.
Acceptance checks
- Content remains fixed in the real world instead of moving with the camera.
- Approaching the same object from different directions produces the same alignment.
- After a brief occlusion or rapid motion, Content returns to the correct location when tracking stabilizes.
- If the page cannot localize, move to a feature-rich area that was included in the scan and try again.
The QR code and link contain map access credentials. Do not publish them on a public website, in a public chat, or in logs. For a public experience, use an authorized production distribution entry instead of a temporary Space Studio link.
