Scan with XGRIDS
01Spatial supports exported data from all XGRIDS handheld scanners, including K1, K2, and L2, and reads spherical images, poses, and point clouds from E57. E57 is a common reality-capture exchange format that can store those images, positions, and 3D points together.
XGRIDS data requires neither 01Spatial Reference Boards nor Map Configurator; upload it and start the build.
Capture and export
- Keep effective spacing within about 2 m and add bidirectional coverage at doors, turns, and room connections.
- Keep the route continuous and return to a previously covered area before finishing.
- Export one E57 that retains images, poses, and point cloud. LAS or PLY alone is insufficient for visual localization.
- Put the E57 in a ZIP without unrelated project data.
Upload and validate
Select XGRIDS in Spatial Maps and choose:
- Local: select the ZIP from this computer and keep the page open until upload completes.
- Cloud, recommended for large files: upload the ZIP to a drive supported by the current Portal interface, then provide a direct file link for server-side download.
Select Build. Portal validates device metadata, images, point-cloud content, and scan density.
When Ready, compare Points with the LiDAR view and check that neighboring areas connect correctly. Run localization tests on production devices at entrances, in corridors, in open areas, and under changing light.
