Scan with Leica RTC
The Leica path supports Leica RTC series projects that export a self-contained E57. E57 is a common reality-capture exchange format that can store station images, positions, and 3D points. 01Spatial converts each station's cube images into a panorama while preserving its pose and 3D data.
Leica RTC data requires neither 01Spatial Reference Boards nor Map Configurator; upload it and start the build.
Capture and register
- Keep fixed stations within about 5 m with strong visible overlap.
- Place stations on both sides of doors, turns, and level transitions.
- Complete registration and inspect ghosting, tilt, and isolated stations before export.
Export
Export one E57 containing station images, poses, and point cloud. Do not disable image export; point-cloud-only data cannot support visual localization. Put the E57 in a ZIP without data from another coordinate frame.
Upload and validate
Select Leica RTC in Spatial Maps and choose:
- Local: select the ZIP from this computer and keep the page open until upload completes.
- Cloud, recommended for large files: upload the ZIP to a drive supported by the current Portal interface, then provide a direct file link for server-side download.
Select Build. Portal validates Leica metadata and fixed-station density. When Ready, inspect Points, LiDAR, and Mesh, paying attention to cube-image coverage, station boundaries, and reflective geometry before localization validation.
